Tankworks sponsors Franklin Charity House
The Franklin Charity House project is the result of a partnership between the Master Builders Association of the ACT and the Land Development Agency.
The two storey, two garage, 386 square metre, 7 star thermal rated house was designed by Guy Mahoney from Designs by Mahoney and will be built by Classic Constructions. Tankworks is a sponsor of the project.
Members of the Master Builders ACT have generously come on board to supply the labour and materials for the construction of the four bedroom house. The high thermal rating will be achieved by its orientation on the block and its modern slab construction together with the use of double glazed windows and extensive insulation.
The house will also feature two 4,000 litre Modline tanks and the lower level will be built to Adaptable Housing standards making it accessible for older people and people who may have physical disabilities.
The tanks are designed to fit neatly at the rear of the property and are colour matched to the brick work, to be unobtrusive and practical. Tankworks pioneered the made to measure solution and the latest design of the Modline tank (square ended slimline) means the maximum amount of water can be stored with the smallest possible footprint. “Many builders are surprised how economical we can be in the manufacture and delivery of a made to measure tank to suit their house design and meet the capacity requirements, often matching or beating other off the shelf solutions” says David Mortimer of Tankworks.
The house is set to be auctioned in late 2012 with all proceeds to benefit charities within the ACT including the YWCA of Canberra, YouthCARECanberra, Canberra Men’s centre, Toora Women and Inanna Inc.
