Interest Free Loans for Rainwater Tanks in Melbourne

South East Water is offering interest free loans for customers to install rainwater tanks at home as part of a new initiative to help households meet the Target 155 daily consumption target.

The water authority is offering customers in its area a complete rainwater tank solution including 12 or 24 month interest free loans, accredited installation options and reliable onsite advice.

The minister for water, Tim Holding, said "Rainwater tanks are an excellent way to save water at home and meet Target 155. They also provide flexibility as water from rainwater tanks is not subject to water restrictions."

Tankworks Australia exhibiting at the Sydney Home show

Tankworks Australia will be exhibiting at the Sydney Home show from the 30th of April to the 3rd of May. The show is on at the exhibition centre at Darling Harbour and offers inspiring ideas for decorating and renovating your home. Tankworks Australia will be showing a wide range of slimline and round

Tankworks Australia light guard included for no charge

Tankworks Australia will now be shipping all round and slimline
water tanks with a light guard included for no charge. The light guard sits in the top of the tank directly under the leaf strainer. The purpose of the light guard is to prevent any sunlight from contacting the water in the tank, as sunlight may cause algae to grow in the tank. The light guard also has the benefit of providing extra safety around the inlet of the water tank.

Public Facilities Program now open for community savings

Round 2 of the NSW Climate Change Fund Public Facilities Program has opened and includes a new Community Savers grant offering up to $40,000 for not-for-profit organisations to complete water and energy efficiency upgrades. Additional funding is also available under the Demonstration stream for larger water and energy projects. Applications are open until Thursday 30 April 2009.

NSW rebates extended

The NSW Government has extended the Climate Change Fund hot-water system and rainwater tank rebates until 30 June 2011, complementing the recently-announced Federal rebates. The combination of the State and Federal rebates now means that NSW householders can claim up to $2,800 back on hot water systems and up to $2,000 for rainwater tanks.

$700,000 to Central Coast water savings

New grants have been announced for Schools, aged care facilities, clubs and businesses in the Central Coast worth $713,610 under Round 3 of the Central Coast Water Savings Fund. The 12 projects were announced at a visit to Woongarrah Public School by NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Climate Change and the Environment Carmel Tebbutt.

South East Water in conjunction with 'us' – Utility Services and Water Conservation Group are undertaking a study to measure the rainwater tank pump's energy consumption. Water Conservation Group are looking for domestic consumers in the South East Water area who have a rainwater tank which is internally plumbed to supply toilets and laundries, to participate in a survey over 3 months. The federal government has announced a national rebate for home owners who install a rainwater tank. The tank must be at least 2000L in capacity and plumbed to feed toilets or a washing machine inside the house.

"Australian households will be eligible for a rebate of up to $500 each for the purchase of a rainwater tank or a greywater system” see the press release from Senator Penny Wong here:

The rebate is available to all home owners in Australia, except those in Adelaide. The rebate will be on offer from 30/01/2009 to 31/03/2014, and only applies to water tanks purchased after 30/01/2009. The federal government has yesterday announced an increase in the first home buyers grant from $7000 to $14,000 for buying an established dwelling and to $21,000 for buyers of new homes. This increase is a move to help stabilise the Australian economy, and should increase the number of new home building starts. The rebate is in place immediately and until June 2009.

Tankworks Australia have now planted over 400 native trees and grasses at our Smithfield site. The plants will create a drought proof garden in the front of the property, and replace the grass and oak trees that used to grow there. The trees and grasses have been selected by horticulturists as being indigenous to the western Sydney region and suitable for the specific location.

Tankworks Australia will be exhibiting at the Hornsby Shire Garden Show in Fagan Park, Galston on Sunday 23rd September - 10am to 4pm. Tankworks Australia will be displaying a range of corrugated steel water tanks, as well as our new raised garden beds.

The garden show will have “Feature presentations and demonstrations from celebrity gardeners, live entertainment and tours of Fagan Park. There will also be a fabulous range of garden equipment, fresh produce and food stalls, children’s activities including face painting, craft activities, a jumping castle, and a petting farm. Entry is free however parking is $4 a car.

The Expo is organised by Hornsby Council.”

Tankworks Australia along with industry partner Storm Major Projects wins contract to supply every scout hall in the country with a 5000L rainwater tank. The project is a federally funded water grant and is designed to save water and provide an avenue for water conservation education to the youth of Australia. Industry partners Green Plumbers and Water Wizz also form a part of the successful consortium and the whole team is looking forward to the national rollout.
